About Us
How We Got Started
Established in 2008, The Robert Sylvia Group, Inc. is a provider of behavioral health services for adults and children. Our facility is located at the Walbert Building at 1800 North Charles Street in Baltimore Maryland. As a behavioral health provider, we provide psychiatric services that meet all relevant federal, State, and local ordinances. All of the direct service providers (therapists and psychiatrists) are Maryland Board Licensed Clinicians at the Master’s level or higher. Each of the Robert Sylvia Group practitioners was selected because of their extensive knowledge, proven expertise, and sincere desire to help enhance the lives of others. Our clinicians are skilled at providing evidence-based interventions directed to the known needs of the population we serve. We take the utmost pride in the quality of care we provide our clients.

Our agency’s therapeutic and supportive services are meant to facilitate an individual’s recovery. We prioritize the individual’s ability to make decisions about their life and create opportunities for choice regarding their daily function at home, School, or work, and in the community. We seek to give our clients the skills necessary to take their growth outside of the therapeutic alliance and into the community we serve. Our agency promotes education and the use of community resources and self-help organizations to support the individual to participate fully in the community. We use a holistic approach. We realize that life does not happen in a vacuum. We seek to address all aspects of life that have an impact on mental health. The direct service providers ensure that the services provided are appropriate to the client being served, are in accordance to the unique needs of each individual being served and coordinated with other community provider/services so that their needs are addressed at every level.
Why We Are Different
While a majority of our licensed clinicians conduct counseling and therapy sessions, our agency prides itself in providing a holistic approach opportunities to our clients, such as awareness groups and workshops that aim to educate and empower individuals, families and their communities in such areas of health awareness, substance abuse, depression, and HIV/AIDS. These programs address the importance of health maintenance, nutrition, relationships, crisis prevention issues and healthy coping skills training. The Robert Sylvia Group, Inc. has integrated networks of partnerships with various community agencies that support our community goal to provide comprehensive care, in areas such as medical care and transitional housing, to name a few. By providing the therapeutic support and services to children, adults and families, The Robert Sylvia Group helps individuals to enhance and rebuild the lives of those whom we serve.
